Patterns & Texture Morris Verneuil by Pública Rework: Two Traditions of Ornament

Patterns & Texture Morris Verneuil by Pública Rework is an art print that brings two design traditions into a single frame. It sets the textile patterns of William Morris beside the botanical plates of Maurice Pillard Verneuil, and lets them speak to each other across a century. The result is a print built for slow looking, where every glance finds a motif you missed before.

Patterns & Texture Morris Verneuil is an art print by Pública Rework, sold by NOKUKO. It combines William Morris textile patterns made between 1872 and 1888 with floral studies from Maurice Pillard Verneuil's 1896 book La Plante et ses Applications ornementales. It is printed on Fine Art Freja paper at 265g, and comes in two sizes.

Two Pattern Masters, One Surface

This print is a conversation between William Morris and Maurice Pillard Verneuil, two designers who never met but shared a devotion to ornament drawn from nature. Morris led the British Arts and Crafts movement, filling textiles with repeating leaves and stems. Verneuil worked in the French Art Nouveau tradition, studying single plants until their forms became pattern. Pública Rework collects fragments from both and merges them into one composed surface.

From Morris the print borrows Willow, Branch, Jasmine, Grafton and Ispahan, decorative patterns first drawn between 1872 and 1888. From Verneuil it takes Muguet, Ancolie and Capucine, his studies of lily of the valley, columbine and nasturtium. Placed together, the British and the French traditions stop competing and start to rhyme.

If you have followed Pública Rework's ongoing dialogue with Morris, this print extends it. Where Orange Morris D'Orbigny set a single Morris pattern against one scientific specimen, Patterns & Texture widens the field and gathers many motifs at once.

Art Nouveau Meets Arts and Crafts on Your Wall

On a wall, this print reads as one rich, balanced field rather than a collage. The colours are carefully selected and the structures are balanced, so the eye travels without snagging. Hang it in a reading corner, a hallway, or above a desk, and it rewards the kind of attention you give a print you live with. It suits rooms that already hold a little history: older apartments, mixed furniture, shelves of books.

Made to Be Kept

Patterns & Texture Morris Verneuil is printed on Fine Art Freja paper at 265g. The weight gives the paper a soft, substantial hand, and the surface holds fine line and deep colour without glare. It comes in two sizes, 30x40 cm and 50x70 cm, and arrives with a certificate of authenticity. The frame shown in the images is for illustration. Yours arrives unframed, ready for the frame you choose.

Some prints announce themselves and then fall quiet. This one does the opposite. It asks for a second look, and a third, and keeps giving back the longer it stays on the wall.

Patterns & Texture Morris Verneuil is a quiet argument that old ornament still has somewhere to go.
