Broad blocks of orange and red sit in the middle of a warm cream ground, laid down flat and left to be still. Over the top of them runs a fine black line that loops, coils, zigzags and then wanders off the colour altogether into the empty space around it. Look closely and small things surface: a spiral drawn like a flower, a scribbled grid, a row of dots strung along a curve, a jagged run of peaks. The colour holds the picture down. The line keeps it awake.
