There is a part of the mind that does not follow rules. It wanders. It dives. It surfaces in places you did not expect. Most of us never quite know what to call it, but we recognise it immediately when we see it reflected back at us.
Alan Pedersen, known as Alantherock, has spent years chasing that feeling. Imaginary Ocean is where he found it.
An Ocean Without Shores
Alan describes imagination the way sailors once described the sea: something vast, in constant motion, filled with life that exceeds what the eye can see. The surface never rests. The depths hold more than you can imagine. And the whole thing moves whether you are watching or not.
Imaginary Ocean is built around that idea. It is a hand-drawn illustration, created entirely from scratch, where every line and element was placed by hand. Alan has woven textures from his own photographs into the composition, adding a quality that sits somewhere between drawing and painting, between the real and the invented.
The result is a piece that feels genuinely alive. You look at it, and it looks back.

Five Editions, Five Moods
Imaginary Ocean comes in five editions, each one a different emotional register. Morning Yellow is warm and open, the feeling of a day that has not yet decided what it wants to be. Evening Purple is richer and more surprising, a mood that arrives after the sun has gone. Original Pen is the work in its most honest form, clean lines and pure intention. Ocean Touch brings watercolour into the composition, and the waves feel like they are actually moving. Forest Green is quieter and more grounded, a version that settles rather than stirs.
Each edition changes the character of the piece considerably. Choosing one is part of the experience.
